- The bloating may be from a food intolerance, where an elimination diet may be required to identify which food it is. First keep a food diary for a few weeks documenting what you have eaten and when the bloating symptoms occur. When you think you might know which food it is, this can be confirmed by eliminating that food from your diet for one month. For example, if you notice bloating after eating bread (wheat), then an elimination diet would involve not eating wheat produced products for a month. When the month is complete review if the bloating episodes have abated, then reintroduce the wheat foods gradually and see if the symptoms reoccur. If they do it suggests that there is a food tolerance. If not, then try eliminating dairy foods for a month, following the same process of gradual reintroduction. If you do identify an intolerance, be careful not to remove a whole food group from your diet. Make sure you are eating replacements.
